Academic Partnering

The Flamboyan Foundation supports teachers and families toward the goal of establishing mutually effective relationships, thereby giving schools the opportunity to provide the information and support families need to improve educational outcomes for their children. There are various avenues schools can access to effectively engage families. For schools in the District of Columbia that partner and work with the Flamboyan Foundation, they are supported through these effective family engagement strategies:

  • Academic Parent-Teacher Teams (APTT)

    • Academic Parent-Teacher Teams (APTT) is a model for parent-teacher communication about student performance and parents’ roles in supporting achievement.
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences
    • At Parent-Teacher Conferences, teachers share concrete, actionable data about student progress with families, provide proven strategies for how families can support student progress at home, model at-home strategies, and collaboratively set goals for future conferences.
  • Student-Led Conferences
    • Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) in secondary schools effectively allow students to have a voice in sharing their academic progress.
