The Flamboyan Foundation is thrilled to announce that Carlos Rodríguez Silvestre has been named Executive Director of our Puerto Rico office. Carlos is taking the helm following a successful leadership transition from Flamboyan’s founding Executive Director, Guiomar García-Guerra. For the past several months Carlos has done an outstanding job serving as interim Executive Director, and has a strong vision for amplifying/extending/growing the meaningful work Flamboyan has been doing on the island for the past decade.

Carlos has been an integral part of Flamboyan’s Puerto Rico team since 2016.  In his most recent role as Deputy Director, he led the strategic development, implementation, and evaluation of Flamboyan’s programmatic investments in Puerto Rico, ensuring efficient internal office operations and bridging processes between the Puerto Rico and Washington, DC offices. Importantly, Carlos has been an extraordinary support both to Flamboyan’s senior leadership and the Puerto Rico staff during the months following Hurricane María. He ensured the continuity of our education programs and coordinated our hurricane relief efforts on the island. On commenting about his new role, Carlos said, “Flamboyan is an organization with a solid reputation that believes a good education is essential to every child’s future.  I am honored to lead a group of passionate experts who work towards making sure students impacted by inequity have the right educational tools to succeed”.

Before joining Flamboyan, Carlos was an engineer and business strategist focused on solving complex operations and logistics challenges faced by Fortune 500 companies. Prior to that, he supported sales, finance, operations, and federal regulatory compliance for Univision Communications, Inc.

Carlos holds a Bachelor in Industrial Engineering and a Masters in Science in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a Master’s in Business Administration (M.B.A.) from The Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the jurisdiction of Puerto Rico, a member of the Puerto Rico College of Engineers and Surveyors (CIAPR), and a member of the Puerto Rico, Florida and Washington, DC BAR.
