School and Learning Partners

Family Engagement Partnership Schools

The Family Engagement Partnership (FEP) is an intensive, school-wide initiative designed to support student success by transforming the ways in which teachers and families collaborate with one another.

The FEP provides intensive principal and teacher capacity-building – from teacher training to school leader coaching and professional development – with a focus on relationship building, academic partnering and ongoing communications practices.

The FEP began in 2011 with just five Washington, D.C. school partners. It has since grown to include partnerships with 34 DC public schools and 12 DC public charter schools. Flamboyan partners with schools in every one of D.C.’s eight wards.

College Readiness & Success Learning Partners

The College Readiness & Success Learning Partnerships are a collaboration between Flamboyan Foundation and several Washington, D.C. high-schools and community-based organizations to serve high school youth and their families.

Partners receive support to design and pilot promising family engagement strategies as part of their ongoing college readiness and success efforts. These partnerships aim to improve student outcomes related to college preparedness, enrollment, persistence, and graduation by empowering families to guide their child’s path to and through college.

As Learning Partners, these schools and organizations meet regularly as they implement their work to share lessons learned and to problem solve together. Flamboyan provides funding and regular coaching to bolster these innovative family engagement practices.

Flamboyan currently partners with Capital City PCS, Coolidge HS, E.L. Haynes HS, The Seed School, Thurgood Marshall HS, University of the District of Columbia Community College, George Washington University, and Georgetown Institute for College Preparation.
