Highlights of Flamboyan’s ‘BIG WINS’ in 2016

As the year comes to a close, Flamboyan Foundation reflects on highlights and the strides we’ve made in working closely with educators to engage families as partners to accelerate student learning. With a number of family engagement successes to date, below is a snapshot of the top ten achievements we are proud of from 2016.

  1. Flamboyan Launched Inaugural National Family Engagement Fellowship
  2. Twelve D.C. Schools Chosen for the Family Engagement Partnership (FEP)
  3. More than 70 Families Share Perspectives During In-Depth Family Interviews Led by Flamboyan’s New Data and Evaluation Team
  4. Principal of FEP School, C.W. Harris Elementary School, Honored with Excellence in Family Engagement Award at the Standing Ovation Awards
  5. Flamboyan president Kristin Ehrgood and parent trainer Keesha Cox joined the conversation about evidence-based interventions and expanding opportunities for children with over 30 other organizations from around the country through the first-ever My Brother’s Keeper “What Works Showcase” at The White House
  6. Flamboyan Joined Parent Teacher Home Visit Project for 10th Annual National Gathering
  7. Flamboyan Joined Fight For Children for the Equity in Family Engagement Conference, and Led Distinct Workshops that Focused on Hot-topic Education Issues that are Rooted in Inequity
  8. Relationship-building Home Visits Continue to be Closely Linked to Boosting Attendance for Preschool Students
  9. Beers, an Elementary School in the Family Engagement Partnership (FEP), made national news alongside Vincent Baxter, Deputy Chief of Family Engagement of DC public schools, for contributing to DC’s radical shift in parent involvement, a result of their longstanding relationship with Flamboyan
  10. Education Next’s Quarterly Magazine Featured Flamboyan and Relationship-building Home Visits as a Strategy that Fosters Student Success
